Often times a piece just becomes something I can laugh at. I was  stuck when I was creating this painting. I had all the elements going–boy Fishing, weird shark out of water. . . but something was missing. Then, I was walking up to my friends office when I saw an empty Landshark Beer box and Eureka!

As an adult, I considered the first Rocky an artful masterpiece. As a kid, however, it was like watching Star Wars or something. Part of it, I think, was Apollo Creed’s loud red, white and blue along with his smack talk. All masterful in itself.
